Car Boot Outreach What is the “Car
Boot Outreach”? ..here
to Help It’s a new form of
outreach taking place monthly at the Car Boot Sale at Congleton Market. We
take a pitch alongside everyone else but, instead of selling items, we
have a range of gospels, leaflets, magazines and postcards to give away.
These give details of our services and groups, but more than that, they
talk about Jesus Christ and how he restores our relationship with God.
We’ve also got prayer cards for anyone to fill in if they’d like us to
pray about something. We’ve got more ideas on how to develop this over
the months. How’s it going? ..here
to Pray We just had our first
one ( June 24th), and we were given the best pitch in the
market – right by the snack van where everyone gathers. As you’d
expect being the newcomers, some people gave us a wide berth, but many
came and had a look.
Why are we going
there? ..for
Christ’s sake The aim is to
establish a presence there by having a pitch most months. Over the morning
on an average Sunday we get contact with around 400 (yes four hundred)
people. And since we believe the church is the people, not just the
buildings, it’s good to come out from our buildings and be where people
are once in a while. It helps us to think about those who are not in
church on Sunday and develop some “Go to them” ideas to balance our
“Come to us” events. When’s the next
one? ..here
to Serve God willing, the next
Car Boot Outreach is July 22nd
and I’d love some helpers. Please phone me ( 01260 278362) for
details. Heather Kemball |
