The earliest references to the Upper Chapel,
St. Peters date from the first quarter of the 15th
century. The office holders were referred to as
"Ministers" or "Curates" as the parish Church
was at Astbury St Mary. Sometimes the clergyman was also the schoolmaster.
The old Grammar school building is now referred to as the parish
rooms.
